Our Story

How We Met

It all started with a fire alarm and a burnt pile of microwave noodles...
No, really. It did.
They were both going to school at RIT, when Kayla randomly joined Liam's dorm floor for dinner one evening. She came back to the dorm lounge to hang out, when someone set off the fire alarm (they put a glass of water in the microwave next to dry Easy Mac; that's adding a cup of water, right?). After evacuating, Kayla asked Liam if he wanted to come back to her dorm instead to hang out. Turns out they had a lot of (dorky) interests in common, so it took off straight from there.
Kayla and Liam were together from then on -- graduated together, moved to California, moved back to New York. After two cross-country moves, a mortgage, and too much fur from the pets, the only thing left on the checklist is to tie the knot!

Travel

ROC Airport

View

Rochester is the closest airport to our venue. It is a pretty small airport, but has connections to most major travel hubs. Rentals/taxi/Uber/Lyft are all available here, too!

BUF Airport

View

Buffalo airport is 60 miles from Rochester, but can be cheaper to fly into so it is a valid option as well!

ROC Train Station

View

Rochester also has an amtrak station with many affordable options. It's a comfortable day ride in from NYC, just make sure to get an express train!

ROC Greyhound

View

Greyhound also operates a stop out of Rochester. Most transit routes from Washington D.C. and New York City have one bus transfer, and the trips vary from 7-14 hours. Prices range from $40-100 depending on how far away you're coming from.

We've contract reserved a block of thirty rooms at the Hyatt Regency at a discounted rate. As with everything else in Rochester, this is about 15 minutes away from the venue and there will be transportation provided to and from the venue!

The ceremony and reception are both going to be hosted at ARTISANworks, an eclectic art gallery with tons of interesting things on display. We'll be in Vertigo Heights for the ceremony, Boulevard Garibaldi for cocktail hour, and both rooms for the reception.

FAQs

What is the dress code?

Dressing up is great, but we want everyone to be comfortable! You are welcome as long as you're wearing clothes.

Are kids welcome?

Yes! While the venue itself welcomes children, it should be noted that many of the sculptures are delicate and some art may contain nudity. It is up to parents' discretion as to whether or not they wish to bring their little ones.

Will there be an open or cash bar?

It will be open! Just bring yourselves, don't worry about cash.

Will there be vegan/vegetarian/gluten-free food options?

Yes! We mostly already know what everyone's dietary restrictions are and will be accommodating them, but make sure to leave a note in your RSVP just to be safe!

What is the color scheme?

The primary colors for the wedding are green and purple. Feel free to match if you want, but it's by no means required!
The exact colors are Pantone 19-3850 TCX and Pantone 563 U.

Does the venue have parking?

There is plenty of parking at the venue. Transportation will be provided to and from the Hyatt Regency if you are staying there.

Can I bring a plus one?

Plus ones can be added when RSVPing. If there is not an option for that, please let one of us know and we can correct it.

Can I take home centerpieces, decorations, etc.?

Unfortunately, no. Many of the decorations and centerpieces are going to be provided by the venue itself. Please do not take them!

Will there be a space for those with sensory issues?

Yes! We are aiming to provide a space just off from the main hall of the reception that will have couches, board games, and a video game console to help provide a buffer from the loud sounds of music and people.
